Spectrum’s revolutionary HRIS scores high in rugged security testing

—New HRIS will change expectations for HR professionals—

Denver, Colo.—February 6, 2009—

A next–generation HRIS just released from Spectrum Human Resource Systems Corporation, renowned for 25 years of best–in–class HR systems and industry–leading service, has received high marks for quality and security.

Developed by HR professionals, iVantage® 5.0 offers flexibility, customization and ease of use unlike any other HR system to date. With Spectrum’s industry–leading service and cutting–edge technology, the company provides an HRIS experience never seen before.

To bolster this experience, Spectrum recently put iVantage 5.0 through security and penetration testing as well as in–depth source–code review by Security Innovation, Inc., a leading independent provider of application security services. iVantage 5.0 passed with flying colors.

“Security Innovation commends Spectrum for considering software security as an important and meaningful differentiator,” said Security Innovation CTO Jason Taylor. “Third–party validation is a critical step in a good security development lifecycle approach. Our security testing is designed to help Spectrum turn out a high–quality solution for their customers.”

iVantage 5.0 repelled access and data protection attacks in four major security areas—authenticated access, authorized access, protection of sensitive data integrity and protection of data integrity. The system also resisted common website attacks as well as functional security and business model attacks.

“The items we tested for would allow an unauthorized user to access or tamper with mission–critical and sensitive data and escalate privileges—two extremely dangerous capabilities and, by far, the most damaging to enterprises,” said Taylor.

Because an HRIS holds confidential HR information, it’s critical that the system successfully completes vulnerability testing during development. Spectrum has an ongoing commitment to quality and completes extensive internal testing but feels outside testing for security is essential.

“As a client, we have greater peace of mind knowing that Spectrum is taking steps to protect their clients’ well–being and highly confidential data,” said Amy Stuart, HRIS Administrator at Bingham McCutchen LLP. “The fact that they initiated this security check and stay on top of the latest developments from Microsoft® are some of many reasons we like their product…it’s a very high quality system.”

“Independent security testing by industry experts is essential,” said Spectrum President and CEO Sybll Romley. “Our systems have to protect the sensitive data of our clients. Passing the Security Tested Program shows that we’ve undergone extensive quality measures to deliver a solid product.”
